
Advanced Maternal Age: Trends, Management, and Outcomes (On-Demand)
This webinar discusses how to manage the care of women of advanced maternal age (AMA) in a health center, ensuring they receive appropriate support, education, care coordination, and medical attention. The training will reveal the common medical risks associated with AMA, such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, chromosomal abnormalities, and increased likelihood of cesarean delivery, as well as how to develop a comprehensive care plan.

The AAFP has reviewed this Strategies for Preventive Health and Chronic Disease in Maternal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Adult Care training and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. The term of approval is for one year. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This live session is approved for 0.75 AAFP Elective credits. Elective credits are available for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants. Attendance at the entire live training and the submission of a post-training evaluation are required to receive credit.

Rachel Mandel, MD, MHA
Senior Advisor, Practice Transformation
Dr. Rachel Mandel is a physician executive with over 30 years of clinical, executive and teaching experience.
In her career, Dr. Mandel has developed a passion for the successful alignment of administration and medical staff in order to adopt transformative changes in healthcare to include community health initiatives and total cost of care models. She is experienced in evaluating key dynamics and issues on both a healthcare system and service line level. She champions for wide-spread and meaningful improvements in clinician communication in order to positively impact patient experience and quality outcomes. Dr. Mandel is experienced in developing and coordinating effective teams that drive high reliability, performance improvement and efficiency.
Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, most recently Dr. Mandel worked within the Frederick Memorial Healthcare System, in Frederick, Maryland from 1998 through 2018, beginning as a Private Practitioner, and serving in various executive and physician leadership capacities, including Vice President of Medical Affairs. Her experience included forward thinking work in Community Health, Quality Improvement, Physician Alignment, Emergency Preparedness, Women’s Health, as well as Patient and Family Centered Care.
Dr. Mandel has demonstrated her commitment to community health and wellness through her many speaking engagements, outreach initiatives and volunteer support. She is on the Board of Trustees for the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. She is active in the Key City Rotary Club, the Frederick County Suicide Prevention Coalition, and a multitude of veteran affiliated organizations to include being elected to co-chair the nation’s first Woman Community Veterans Engagement Board.
She obtained her bachelor’s in science degree from Union College in NY, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University Medical School through the military’s Health Professions Scholarship Program. She earned her master’s degree in health administration (MHA) from Mt. St. Mary’s University in 2013. After receiving her MHA, Dr. Mandel taught the Contemporary Health Policy course in the program. She currently teaches the medical unit of state certified Community Health Worker training program.
She is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Mandel holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Clark T. Johnson, MD, MPH
Maternal Fetal Medicine, Division Director and Fellowship Director, UPMC Harrisburg Hospital
Dr. Johnson is the Division Director for Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Harrisburg, PA. He also serves as the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship Director. He comes from Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, where he served as the Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine, and before that, Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD, where he served as the site Clerkship Director for Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Johnson is an Assistant Professor in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Dr. Johnson received a dual Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Honors Biochemistry and Theatre Performance-Directing from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he also earned a Master of Public Health in General Epidemiology. He completed his Doctorate in Medicine from Wayne State University and thereafter completed his residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics and Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Dr. Johnson also completed the Cefalo Leadership Training Academy for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists National Leadership Institute. He is the former chair of the Maryland Maternal Mortality Review Committee and has at times served as a consultant to the Maryland Maternal Health Innovation Program (MDMOM).
