This Community of Practice will provide education on the fundamentals of fetal heart monitoring. Participants will be able to: 1. understand the physiological principles of fetal heart monitoring, 2. accurately interpret fetal heart rate patterns and identify signs of fetal distress, 3. implement appropriate clinical interventions based on fetal heart monitoring results, and 4. enhance communication skills to effectively discuss fetal heart monitoring with patients and their families.

The AAFP has reviewed this Strategies for Preventive Health and Chronic Disease in Maternal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Adult Care training and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. The term of approval is for one year. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Each live session is approved for 1.25 AAFP Elective credits. Elective credits are available for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants. Attendance at the entire live training and the submission of a post-training evaluation are required to receive credit.
Presenters

Rachel Mandel, MD, MHA
Senior Advisor, Practice Transformation, Renaye James Healthcare Advisors
Dr. Rachel Mandel is a physician executive with over 30 years of clinical, executive, and teaching experience.
In her career, Dr. Mandel developed a passion for successful alignment of administration and medical staff to adopt transformative changes in healthcare to include community health initiatives and total cost of care models. She is experienced in evaluating key dynamics and issues on both healthcare system and service line levels. She champions for widespread and meaningful improvements in clinician communication to positively impact patient experience and quality outcomes. Dr. Mandel is experienced in developing and coordinating effective teams that drive high reliability, performance improvement and efficiency.
Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, most recently Dr. Mandel worked within the Frederick Memorial Healthcare System, in Frederick, Maryland from 1998 through 2018, beginning as a Private Practitioner, and serving in various executive and physician leadership capacities, including Vice President of Medical Affairs. Her experience included forward thinking work in Community Health, Quality Improvement, Physician Alignment, Emergency Preparedness, Women’s Health, as well as Patient and Family Centered Care.
Dr. Mandel has demonstrated her commitment to community health and wellness through her many speaking engagements, outreach initiatives and volunteer support. She is on the Board of Trustees for the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. She is active in the Key City Rotary Club, the Frederick County Suicide Prevention
Coalition, and a multitude of veteran affiliated organizations to include being elected to co-chair the nation’s first Woman Community Veterans Engagement Board.
She obtained her bachelor’s in science degree from Union College in NY, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Northwestern University Medical School through the military’s Health Professions Scholarship Program. She earned her master’s degree in health administration (MHA) from Mt. St. Mary’s University in 2013. After receiving her MHA, Dr. Mandel taught the Contemporary Health Policy course in the program. She currently teaches the medical unit of state certified Community Health Worker training program.
She is a Fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Mandel holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Kim Murphy, MS, APRN-CNP, WHNP-BC, RNC-OB, RNC-MNN, C-EFM
Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner
Kim Murphy is a registered nurse and women's health nurse practitioner with more than 40 years of clinical experience, including in level I and level III facilities, private obstetrics/ gynecology offices, and health department care sites. She is certified in fetal monitoring, inpatient obstetrics, and maternal newborn nursing, along with a board certification as a women's health nurse practitioner.
Kim is an intermediate and advanced designated fetal monitoring instructor through the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses and teaches nursing certification reviews throughout the country. She is also an expert witness and trial consultant for obstetric malpractice cases. She works at the bedside and embraces her passion of bringing new life into this world, while following the primary objective of healthy moms and healthy babies.

Mona Prasad, DO
Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist
Dr. Mona Prasad is a maternal fetal medicine specialist in Columbus, Ohio. She is the System Chief of Maternal Fetal Medicine and the Medical Director of the Perinatal Support Unit at OhioHealth. The Perinatal Support Unit oversees all electronic fetal monitoring for the health system, which delivers 16,000 babies a year. She has a passion for the work and impact of the Perinatal Support Unit, as well as academic interests in substance use disorders and hepatitis C virus infection in pregnancy. In her time away from medicine, Dr. Prasad enjoys time with family in their favorite escape at Longboat Key, Florida.
