
Success with Childhood Lead Screening, A Team Approach

This webinar will orient participants to the detrimental effects of lead exposure on children's health by explaining lead screening national guidelines and metrics and follow-up care. Presenters will share the importance of the healthcare team in the screening process, patient and family education, data collection, follow-up, and health outcomes.

The AAFP has reviewed this Strategies for Preventive Health and Chronic Disease in Maternal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Adult Care training and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. The term of approval is for one year. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This live session is approved for 0.75 AAFP Elective credits. Elective credits are available for physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and medical assistants. Attendance at the entire live training and the submission of a post-training evaluation are required to receive credit.

Dr. Avian Tisdale is a Board-certified physician and consultant who brings together expertise in healthcare, business, and law.
For nearly two decades, Dr. Tisdale practiced acute care pediatrics where she also taught scores of residents, students, and healthcare professionals. That experience shaped her ability to connect with people, break down complex problems, and design solutions that work in real-world settings.
Her leadership path includes executive roles at large health systems where she guided organizational growth, improved operations, and advanced quality of care initiatives. As Founder & CEO of DHM Consulting, she partners with organizations and individuals facing multifaceted challenges, drawing on her cross-disciplinary background to deliver practical strategies and effective outcomes.
Her career afforded her esteemed positions such as Division Director for Nemours duPont Hospital for Children in New Jersey where she was directly responsible for leading system wide transformation including digital health record implementation, a formal academic partnership with Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine, and a highly successful quality improvement program. She served as a Clinical Assistant Professor, at Rowan, preparing medical students and physician trainees for the future of healthcare. She was presented with a Proclamation of Service and dedication by her medical staff colleagues for steadfast leadership and compassion. Dr. Tisdale’s expertise earned her the role of Chief Medical Officer for two multi-site federally qualified health systems. In addition to managing departments of up to 200 employees she chaired the Quality and Credentialing committees.
Known as an engaging, and nationally-recognized, speaker and trainer Dr. Tisdale is valued for her ability to turn difficult concepts into better results. She also shares her expertise on physician health and leadership at universities and radio/tv outlets.
She earned her MBA in Finance from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business and completed paralegal studies at the University of Texas at Austin.

Hima Bodagala, MD
Pediatric Hospitalist
Dr. Hima Bodagala is a board-certified pediatrician with extensive expertise in general pediatrics, encompassing neonatal and infant care through adolescent medicine. After completing her residency at Cooper University Hospital, she served as a pediatric hospitalist at Nemours Children’s Health in Vineland, New Jersey. During her time there, she also held the role of Associate Professor at Rowan School of Medicine, where she educated medical students and family medicine trainees, emphasizing evidence-based practices for patient management.
Dr. Bodagala's career spans multiple geographic regions, including the United States, UAE, and Malawi, enriching her perspective on global healthcare systems and variations in care delivery. As a Pediatric Implementer with Doctors Without Borders in Malawi, she designed and executed pediatric care and nutrition programs, training clinical officers to provide safe and effective care in resource-limited settings. Following this, she worked as a pediatric consultant at the American Hospital in Dubai, managing pediatric patients across all age groups. Concurrently, she served as an Associate Professor at the University of Sharjah, where she taught and mentored medical students.
Currently, Dr. Bodagala serves at Pristine Pediatrics and Family Medicine in Houston, where she oversees pediatric services provided by nurse practitioners, conducts virtual consultations, and offers prenatal counseling to support and guide expecting mothers. Additionally, she spends time as a pediatrician at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston, Texas, where she provides comprehensive outpatient pediatric care. Dr. Bodagala endeavors to integrate hands-on clinical care with leadership responsibilities, leveraging innovative telemedicine solutions, and mentoring the next generation of healthcare providers with compassion and dedication.
